2160p Quad HDTV !!!! what about 1080p ? is it done ?

Do i wait for it or get 1080p ????

  1. 1080p is a step on a gradual progression to higher and higher resolution display devices.

    That said, there is no chance of 1080p broadcast TV in the forseeable future; it is predicted that only 38% of consumer households in the US will have HDTVs (720p and up) by the end of 2008; and it isn't clear yet that Blu-ray will even supplant DVD.

    The next step is liable to be 1440 resolution, and/or 10 or 12 bit video at 1080p with a broader colour space (have you noticed some Sony HDTVs are already able to handle the latter?)

    And many people don't benefit from 1080p even if they have it ... simply because they sit too far back.

    So ... if you wait for something better than 1080p at the consumer level you will wait a long time.


  2. Since there is not this boat load of 2160p content out there or a device that has 2160p output, I would say go with 1080p instead of waiting 5 years for this to hit the market.
