It's my b-day andI want to go somewhere nice but I don't want to deal with the hassle of being denied @ the door like at those places in the meatpacking district. AND I have one friend that's not yet 21...are there places that don't ID too hard? Basically I'm looking for a good party with hip/hop, top 40, and raggaeton with the least amt. of hassle but I don't want to deal with fights and stuff either. And I'm going out on a friday night. Any suggestions? I'll appreciate anything!

A friend suggested Fashion 40 lounge--does anyone know what that's like?

  1. Unfortunately, you're friend  may be out of luck. Unless you know a bouncer, it is not happening.  I frequent Slate and was able to get a friend in without ID because the bouncers were familiar with me and just waved us in -she was of age and over, but normally, I would never ask and they would never risk their jobs. Slate is a great place to go on Saturday's and it is free. It's a great establishment and the bouncers are on top of everything. Friday night, it is not as popping but you can turn your bday into a lounge experience. There is dancing on the first floor and pool on the second. They also serve food before 12... Fashion 40 is good but small. I went there for the first time two weeks ago. I did not care for the bouncers. They seemed a bit full of themselves. Making only three people stand on line while they have a bs convo. I wont go back to be honest. You may also want to try Strata- usually good on Fridays, Katwalk is nice, Duvet-popular, Avalon- if they are still open they usually have young people there so  maybe she can slide through- i think it is 18 for females and 21 for males. Also try Spirit. That's where I had my 21st. I don't know if they are still opened though.. Mars 2112 is usually the hot spot too, but I never go because of the crowd.  Also, I have never been turned away from entering a club/bar since 21. I don't know what that is about.. As long as you are dressed well for the dress code (but don't OD) you should be fine. I gave you a list of clubs and lounges.

Don't go to the China Club-terrible. Skip the 40/40 club.

    Enjoy your 21st!

  2. The Highlands is quite nice without being very selective.
