21st birthday cake ideas?

my sister's turning 21 and i want to make a cake that's liquor themed. the ideas i've come up with so far are making a rum cake and buying those little chocolate candies filled w/ liquor to put on it. now i'm thinking about how to decorate the cake, like make it resemble something like a keg (but couldn't find any gray frosting). i'm planning to make it a 2 layer cake. thanks!

You can make gray, I use chocolate frosting & add Wilton black gel paste color to make it black, then add a small amount of that into white icing to make the gray. If you add the gel paste to the white it will turn a purple-y gray.

I would definitely go with a Keg! To make grey frosting you just need a little black food coloring and add small amounts of it into vanilla frosting until it's the color you want.

Love the keg idea!  We did something similar, but used beer bottle caps for decoration.  

As for the grey frosting, maybe you could ask at someplace that does or teaches cake decorating how to do it.  Around here (Cleveland area), there is a Michael's craft store, Pat Catan's and JoAnne fabric that have cake decorating classes.

Maybe a cake shaped as a liquor bottle?

I like the chocolate candy idea! Try and shape it into a martini glass or something! I don't really like the Keg idea!

just do numbers rather than the keg that way you can use any color frosting
