so im looking for activites for tomorrow, my 21st birthday. the only problem is most of my friends are still in school and cant go out partying, or they are not 21 and therefore cant get into clubs/bars. i went out clubbing a lot when i was in high school (does anyone remember tequila beach? lol i even went to fur when it first opened). i also lived in rome, one of the craziest night spot cities in the world. so id really just prefer something not wild.

my parents are taking me out to a nice dinner any place of my choice, so i thought a place with a bar where i can order a drink to have with dinner would be a nice way to celebrate.

but above all it has to be a good restaurant. i would like something mediterranean or greek. i'm allergic to fish, so no sea food. plus no ethiopean or indian.

  1. If you want to hang with friends before hand Buffalo Joes on waterfront at the end of 30th could be cool for those 21 and older for a cocktail.

For dinner Greek there are several in Dupont

    Zorba's Cafe, 1612 20th St NW, Washington - (202) 387-8555  www.zorbascafe.com

not bad but not necessarily nice dinning

    Mourayo 1732 Connecticut Ave NW # 100, Washington - (202) 667-2100  www.mourayous.com

Nicer than Zorba's and good wine.

Mediterranean there is a Levants South of Dupont Circle on 19th.  Really good but not overly nice.

Not Greek or Med but near Dupont on O just East of Connecticut is Tabbard Inn, one of our favorite places.  Set in an old Inn it has cool rooms and decor, great food and wine.

In Georgetown / Glover Park area on Wisconsin near S there is Cafe Divan which is Turkish and really good.  Great service.

Near Cafe Divan is Bistro Lepic which is fabulous French cuisine.  Great wine list and service to match.  Laura Bush loves to dine there with her friends, usually lunch.

    Salud!!!  And Happy Birthday!!

  2. Just about every bar I've been to in DC will give you a free drink if it's your 21st birthday.

I don't know any Greek / Mediterranean restaurants in the area (there is a Lebanese Cafe in Silver Spring though).

But you should check out Lauriol Plaza in Adams Morgan (Mexican) or Bar Louie in gallery place/Chinatown. If you go to Bar Louie you can just drink and there a bunch of restaurants in the area like Clyde's that you can go to if you really want to eat that much.

    Have fun!

  3. Levante's(

    1320 19th Street, NW

    Washington, DC 20036

    Dining Style: Casual Dining

    Cuisine: Mediterranean, Turkish, Greek

    Neighborhood: Dupont Circle

is very classy spot. The bar is has a huge selection of top shelf spirits :) Your folks will enjoy too.
