  1. idk

  2. Yes. It is normal.

I had my cervix checked because I was having pre-term contractions that thankfully stopped. I won't be getting anymore they said until 36 weeks unless the contractions start up again.

  3. They really don't start checking your cervix etc til your 37+ weeks. Most appointments will just be heartbeat, fundal measurement, & bp/weight check. I wouldn't be concerned at all. Good luck w/the rest of your pregnancy!

  4. That's all mine does.  In early pregnancy, internal exams can cause tenderness & bleeding so there is really no point unless you haven't had a pap in awhile.  Middle pregnancy they only listen to heartbeat, check for movement and ask if there are any issues/concerns you have.  I haven't ever been check internally until Group B testing around 35-37 weeks and then weekly dilation checks.  I wouldn't worry...and if anything be thankful you don't have anyone up there right now...all that'll come soon enough.

  5. He is doing right. There is nothing for him to be feeling for yet.

  6. It is normal. My doctor only looked "inside" at my first appt. Just to feel the shape of my cervix and the size n junk. She hasn't looked in there since. I don't think she will look inside again until I'm much further along. Your docor probably will examine it once you're further along too! :o)

  7. Yup this is perfectly normal hun. Usually they wont check you internally unless absolutely necessary, this is because it can actually start things off. As you get further on then you will see that they spend longer examining you. I am currently 36weeks gone and i felt much like you did that i was pretty much 'left to get on with it'. Good luck! xx

  8. thats normal.  There is no benefit for checking your cervix everytime you come in. My doctor didnt start checking me until later on in the late trimester.

They do rely on you for letting them know about things like if your bleeding or you think your water is leaking. Otherwise No worries!

  9. yea. that's what i got w/ my dr too. i think thats normal. call the nurse and ask.

  10. I don't really know but i do know that with both my pregnancy's the Dr did a pap smear and checked for STD's and what not by my second visit. These where two different Dr's by the way.

  11. My doctor told me they will not do a pelvic or internal examine until I am closer to the end. All they do is listen and check my urine.

  12. I dont think this is normal. When I found out I was pregnant the doctor immediately schduled me for a pap smear, cervical reading, etc. I would check into that a little more and possibly consider another OBGYN. Try calling other OBGYNs in your area and ask them if the procedures you didnt recieve should be routine. If they say yes, then you know its time to swap docs and if no, then you shouldnt worry! Try that! Hope this helps!

  13. I'm 24wks 6dys.  All I get when I go to the doc is:

    1) pee in a cup

    2) possible ultrasound

    3) fetal heart rate

    4) measuring of fundus

    5) and "any questions or concerns?"

A doctor usually doesn't begin "checking" until you're further along.  I start my bi-weekly appointments next month (Sept. 4).  It won't be long after that before it's weekly appointments and the "checking" will begin.  Just be patient, and remember, your doctor's been doing this a lot longer that we have.  Make sure you trust him.  If you don't find a doctor you do trust.  This will make this "waiting" game much more emotionally comfortable to you.

Congrats on the pregnancy!!!!  Good luck!!!

  14. they check toward the end and the very beginning but if you are not happy change gyns

  15. I am 36 + 5days and my Doctor still has not checked my cervix, but he does measure how big my uterus is from the outside.

  16. I am 34 weeks and that's all they've been doing at my appointments too.  There's no need to really check the cervix so early on, as long as the heartbeat is strong and your vitals are good then that's all they need to check.  They started measuring my uterus at about 26 weeks or so and at my 34 week appointment he also felt for her position which is head down, using his hands pressing on the outside. Next time (36 weeks and on) they start doing the internal exams and the strep B test.

  17. Yes, honey, it's normal.

Soon, he will look 'inside' but not at the moment.

The baby is not giving birth.

Good luck on the baby sweetie pie :)

But, as soon as you give birth,

you will be proud as a Mama Lion.

    :)

    Good luck!

  18. My OB did the same thing. I thought that I wasnt getting the proper treatment so I went and found another OB. My OB now does sonos at every appointment to check my fluid levels inside and checks the heart beat. But from what Ive been told and read in books many OBs do that. To me I feel like that isnt enough theres no way to know if a problem is going on inside by just listening to the heart beat.

  19. they really don't start internal pelvic exams until you are much further along and they are checking for progressions of labor... unless of course, you experience bleeding or something that may want them to look inside.

you should have gotten a routine pap and pelvic exam at one of your first appointments but from then until you are nearing labor they don't check inside unless there is a reason to.

    best wishes!

  20. Yep, totally normal. They will start vaginal exams later, mine started at 35 weeks.

  21. It is untill you get further along!

  22. the doctor hasnt looked inside of me since i was 8 weeks pregnant!! i would actually wonder why he would if he had!! they dont start checking your cervix til you are 36 or 37 weeks along

  23. yes, i never questioned it, but in my entire pregnancy, my doctor never gave me an internal exam....even in the beginning.  Though my last pap smear was just a couple of months before i got pregnant.  My exams go like this - lay on the table, she takes a tape measure to measure my uterus, then she does a quick ultrasound and asks me how everything is going, then she takes my weight and blood pressure, i ask whatever questions I have and then that's it!  The doctor did tell me that the next visit, she was going to do an internal exam and take a culture for testing...and at that time, I'll be 33 weeks along.

  24. Yes, that's absolutely normal. They don't start doing the "fingertip test" (checking your cervix with a fingertip to check dilation) until later in the pregnancy, unless you have severe pain or any other reason they'd need to check to see if you're dilated. Consider yourself lucky you aren't getting regular pelvic exams so far, but prepare yourself, because they'll become routine in the last couple of months!

  25. My doc did a "inside" check at my very first appointment with her, but I'm 19 weeks now and haven't had that done since, they should do an internal check soon enough.  You could always ask your doc about it at your next visit.  Good Luck
