22 year-old Jason Day leaves the World No.1 Tiger Woods rethinking at Barclays
Tiger Woods after a devastating year for once No.1 golfer, due to his much talked about infidelity to his wife and recently the divorce. The player admitted for the first time in an interview recently that all the family problems had really affected his game. After making a terrible run and barely making it to the top 57 in the PGA tour this season, he was ranked as the 112th according to the PGA points system.
At the Bridgestone Invitational that took place early this month, he gave one of the most dreadful performances of his life by finishing at the 78th position on the leaderboard. However he finally qualified to play at the Barclays this year and made a great run at the first day with a few birdies, making it look as if this tournament might just belong to Tiger Wood. Sadly he was swayed away but a 22-year old Australian golfer Jason Day demonstrating a promising future. The young golfer made three late birdies for a four-under 67 and a one-shot lead.
Despite Jason Day’s injuries and not getting any proper conclusion from the doctors regarding it, has considerably sapped his energies. Although he still has managed to take the lead from the Woods, with a great play.
"I just tried to stay as patient as possible, and it just kind of fell in my lap, which was really good," said Jason Day.
Woods seems to be focused this time around as well however, and keeping his calm and making as less strokes as he can. "I didn't hit it bad at all, I hit it really good. As I said, I didn't putt really well. I hit it as good as I did yesterday. If I don't make putts, I don't score,” said Tiger.
Nevertheless he winded up scoring 73, which is worse than his opening round. There is excellent news for Tiger though as Phil Mickelson his rival missed the cut, and did not make it to the Barclays tournament, giving another chance to Tiger to remain as the No.1 player overall in the World.
Tiger missed two fairways in two rounds and is four shots behind the Australian native; Woods also did not hit a driver one time in the second round. "You play around here and post good numbers, you'll move up the board. The guys aren't going to be tearing this place apart,” said Woods.
