225 Johnson boat motor.I put it in forward it go backward and vise versa.Allrdy tried switching lines no help?

I cant go full speed because it has a limit to reverse when its forawrd so wondering what i have to do to get it back to normal.

First check,  the prop make sure it is going the correct way, make sure you have the cables in the correct link , in the binnacle controls, most of them are set up for a push or pull for throttle and shift linkage, i woudl check on that too. What year is your engine?

It sounds like you have the wrong prop.  You need right hand rotation and have left hand or visa versa.  I'm not familiar with the 225 Johnson but I remember some Volvo's had a link in the lower leg that determined prop shaft rotation.

Or could it be the speed restriction is due to a malfunctioning safety clutch, built into the Prop.

Check for wrong pitch on prop!. Check shift mechanism for proper hook up. See engine manual if available.
