My toyota truck (94) has 225/75/R15 tires on it now. Can I interchange that with 235/75R15 tires without causing any harm or damage or be unsafe? What is the difference between 225 and 235?

  1. Don't forget your speedometer adjustment or you will get a ticket for speeding when your speedometer reads less than the posted speed.

When you change the size of the tire on a vehicle, you change the speedometer reading. Put a bigger tire on and the speedometer will read less than the actual speed, put a smaller tire on and the speedometer will read more than the actual speed.

  2. the 225 is about half an inch shorter than the 235, you should be ok

  3. The difference of 225 to 235 is about an inch in height. What year Toyota? Does it have ABS? If it is older 80's early 90's more than likely you will be fine. The best way to do it is test fit one 235 on the front. Tighten it down and turn the sterring wheel lock to lock to make sure it does not rub on the inner fenders. Another way to do it is most tire shops, firestone, pepboys, have tire guides that will list what tire is factory size and optional sizes that will fit that truck.

  4. 235 is a wider and taller tire (it is the measurement in millimeters)

    75 is the profile (%)

15 is the rim diameter (Inches)

you will have more grip with a wider tire, the only thing you need to watch for is rubbing (you should have no trouble on a truck, it's only a 10mm difference)

  5. 235. i did it. the difference is the size of the tire. the 235 is wider and safer for the road. it last longer as well. the 235 is sort of a low profile type of tire.

  6. A tire sized P235/75R15 105S (yes, all of that is important) is wider, taller (larger overall diameter) and has a higher load carrying capacity than the P225/75R15 102S tires specified for your truck.

They will fit and it is doubtful you will have any clearance problems on your truck but your odometer and speedometer will be inaccurate.
