.22LR Subsonic Bullets are they low sound?

Iam useing a .22LR rifle great gun american made but i want to know if .22LR subsonic are less noise and how much less noise and are they still powerfull. Cause i have hollow points that are the best i shot a 3 inch pease of hard wood clean shot in the front but the back was a mess and i was about 25 feet away. But i want to know if .22LR subsonic bullets are less noise but still powerfull cause my hollow points are loud and powerfull for am .22LR rifle a great gun my first gun it's a remfire LR.

  1. Subsonic rounds are quieter because they do not break the speed of sound. You will know how this affects things if you have ever spent time in the butts holding a target up- supersonic rounds are LOUD.


    However, it will still sound like a gunshot. This is where the silencer/supressor comes in, damping the sound of the muzzle bark. On my bolt action, CBC .22, I can hear the click of the firing pin over the crack of the muzzle.


    Even with high velocity rounds, the muzzle bark is damped with a silencer, more of a thump than a bang, and more difficult for the rabbit/hare to figure out where it came from...


  2. No i just shot Remington subsonic hollow point out of my p22 and it was loud!
    or so i thought?
