23 no drivers license

Question

I am 23 and I don't yet have a license or a permit. How many people got their's at this age? My sister said I should go to a driving school but I will feel stupid for being there surrounded by teens. My boyfriend keeps telling me I should get a license too. My sister hasen't even taken me to the DMV to get a booklet. What should I do?

Our son is 21 - and still doesn't have his.  And he's in the military.

I'm not sure what the rules are where you live, but in Texas I know that once you are over 18, you aren't required to attend classes to attain your permit. All you have to do is go to the DMV, get a handbook, study, then go back to take the permit test (which by the way is really easy). In Texas you have to have your permit for 6 months before you can get a license. That way you'll have time to practice, etc.

I know it's hard to get started but once you do, it'll be worth it!

Get one mailed to you!

GO to the DMV website and ask that a handbook be mailed to your address right away!! Dont wait any longer. You can get one mailed to you. Study hard. Learn to drive and take the test!!

PS learn to drive a manual transmission because you never know when that skill might come in handy

well in ohio you have to have your permit for atleast 24 hours if your over 18 and you dont have to take your test! :) I would reccomend getting them, it comes in handy!

i have my permit and im 16 (its valid when im 17 - UK)

In my family (i have one massive family) someone either gets it as soon as they can, or they dont get it at all. A few of the older aunties have tryed to get it in their older age but gave up quite easily.

As far as i know, (this is UK idk about US) driving lessons are done with instructers and the student, no one else is involved, so you wouldnt even see other people . Even if it isnt like this you should STILL go to the lessons. You should do this for yourself and who cares if younger people are doing it too. This is about you.

Driving is very important, even if you never use your liecense, at least you know its there when or IF you need it

When i took mine, I was in there with people in their 30's who have gotten DUI's and were required to take the class
