240sx Has no power!!!

Question

I have a 1990 nissan 240sx hatch back.

this is the problem, it doesn't accelerate the way it should.

it will take me for ever to get to 5,000 RPM's

and when i accelerate it sound like a big fan is in the engine, as if my fan is overworking.

could it be my catalytic converter cuz it feels as if it may be my exhaust or my intake...

the car came with a loud sounding mufler and end of it is about three or 4 inches wide...

please i need answers from people who know what there talking about (you know, actual mechanics) or maby some one who when throgh the same thing and fixed it.

put a real muffler on the car and check that the previous owner didn't remove the air filter.

If its your cat, pop that sucker off and hollow it out (might not be good for emissions though?), or take it to a muffler shop and have them fix it for you.....
