240sx or 350z for drifting?

I mainly want the car for the purpose of drifting. Even though I know power is not the most important thing in drifting, if I get a s14, I want to eventually shoot for an rb25 or rb26 swap. If I get a 350z I'd eventually like to twin turbo it, which swap or turbo would cost about the same.

Where on earth did you get those numbers?  The 350z is heavier, but it also has *100lbs/ft MORE torque(stock)*and is distributed 53/47.  The 350z is the ultimate drift car by many opinions, they are just too expensive to use like that for most people.

Now to answer the original question...If you have the money, buy the 350z no question.  It has more than enough torque to keep you occupied for drifting.  You'll want an LSD, though it's possible to drift it without one.

Now you say *eventually* for some mods.  I would supercharge the Z only because I'm not entirely sure about how turbos work for drifting.  Someone else may be able to better answer that.

Basically your choice comes down to how much money you have to spend.  Keep in mind you void warranties if Nissan finds out you were racing it.

1996 silivia S-14 is getting a little old now. Drift driving and prize money is not all that great Sponsorship money to supply tires and wheels and parts necessary. Sponsor's would like to see a freshly prepared Nismo 350z Dodge Challenger Chevy Camaro or Pontiac G-8 the newer the better. Helmet fire suit custom paint that looks good under the lights. And form a whole team of "STUNT DRIFT DRIVERS" The bigger the show the better pyrotechnics flames out exhaust under body lights the flashiest and largest slide angle and speed wins. Of course that means crashing while learning. Good luck there are better ways to show off driving skill.

As a S14 owner. I think the best car for drifting is the 240.

The 350 is way too heavy, isn't as balanced as the 240, and has less torque.

You can't go wrong with a 240.
