$25,000 for dessert???

I posted this question a few hours ago, but going back and looking at it I don’t like the way I worded it so I am reposting it.

I am not making this up...below is the link about it. There is a restaurant in NYC that sells a dessert called The Frrrozen Haute Chocolate that costs $25,000!!! It is even covered with “edible” gold flakes. I wasn’t even aware the gold is edible.

I don't care how much money you make, in my opinion that is just an example of how selfish and decadent people can be. Yes I know it's their money and they can do what they want but there are millions of people starving around the world. $25,000 would feed several of these families for an entire year.

Am I the only person that finds this absurd?

By the way, why would you even eat gold? Does it have any nutritional value?

  1. To  the sort of people that would buy this sort of thing money does not mean anything. Only that they can do such a thing means anything.

They are going to build an 80 story tower in Dubai but every floor can rotate on its own what that will cost I dread to think. Coupled with the price of their Islands of the World and Palm Island costing millions. The price of this dessert pales into insignificance, not that it is excusable. The money from the Dubai projects would feed all of Mugabe's poor People.

  2. Who wants to eat gold and why??Just to say you can..It is so wrong in so many ways..Anyone who can afford such a dessert should consider giving to a charity instead..Less filling great feeling!! I could live a year plus on $25,000

  3. I remember seeing that on the news, a bunch of silly women giggling and looking so pleased with themselves because they have more money  than sense. I thought how empty their lives must be to think this stupid waste of money somehow makes them special.

  4. That would be the cost of my ENTIRE education, that I am struggling so hard to afford. Grrr.

  5. Well in my view its that people who do buy this "dessert" has very expensive curiosity in what it taste like. Oh and its for breaking the world record.

  7. I remember the first time I saw this story on the news. First, I thought, all the things going on in the world and we put a useless $25,000 dessert on instead of world events. Then, I thought to myself, "25 g's for a dessert?!"

    Yeah, it's completely absurd.
