25 hp evinrude motor?

Turns over but can get it to crank. It idles briefly

What year is your motor?

Electric or pull start?

Fuel line holding pressure?

Fresh gasoline?

Are you choking the motor for a cold start, and using the hi-idle lever to raise RPM's?  Try bumping the push-to-choke (or push-to-prime) keyswitch when it tries to die, should pick it back up (cold start only).

Do you have approx the same compression on both cylinders (within 5% or 7%)?

Do you have spark on both cylinders?
