  1. Now you have established a base time to beat! Set a goal for 1:25, try to get smooth tires.  You have talent!  Set goals that are reachable and not impossible 'cause you can always set the bar higher later.  But also know when to quit and be satisfied with your accomplishments.

  2. Yeah, that's very good.  That's over 16 MPH.  Especially considering the headwind, hills & knobbies, that's better than I could ever hope to do.

Get yourself a road bike, you'll easily cruise that same route at 20+ MPH.  I've got a very basic road bike and I regularly average 16-19 MPH on 20 to 40 mile rides depending how hilly and windy it is.  I know if I took my old MTB out on the same rides, I'd struggle to do 12-15 MPH on the same exact rides.  Once you get confident with your road bike, seek out riding groups, because that will make you yet another 2 MPH faster when you can slipstream during a group ride.

  3. yeah that's a pretty good pace, especially for knobbies!

of course, pros would do that same route in about an hour flat, or less.. but then again they're all doping anyway.
