25 star athletes missing from 2010 Commonwealth Games (Part 3)
The Commonwealth Games in New Delhi kicked off with an impressive opening ceremony and are currently underway in India. However, many star athletes refused to travel to the country due to security and hygiene concerns and their absence will surely be missed
by sports enthusiasts from around the globe.

16. Christine Ohuruogu (running):
Christine Ohuruogu is an English athlete who is the current Commonwealth and Olympic champion in the 400 metres. Her gold medal in the Beijing Olympics was the 50th gold medal for Britain in athletics competition at the Olympics.
17. Sir Christopher Hoy (track cyclist)
Sir Christopher Hoy is a Scottish track cyclist who represented Great Britain and Scotland and is a multiple world champion along with winning an Olympic Games gold medal. When Hoy clinched three gold medals in Beijing 2008 he became Scotland’s most successful
Olympian and the first Briton after Henry Taylor in 1908 to win three gold medals in a single Olympic competition. He is the most successful Olympic male cyclist of all times.

Lleyton Hewitt is a former world number one Australian tennis player and in the year 2000, won ATP titles on all three major surfaces - hard, clay and grass – and went on to reach one final on carpet. In 2001, he became the youngest male player ever to be
ranked number 1 at the age of just 20 years. He has won the 2001 US Open, the 2002 Wimbledon men’s singles, and consecutive Tennis Masters Cup titles. In 2005, Hewitt was ranked as one of the top 40 greatest tennis players since 1965 by TENNIS magazine.
19. Phillips Idowu (triple jumper)
Phillips Idowu is a triple jumper from Britain who is the current World Champion as well as the 2008 World Indoor champion. He is also the reigning champion of the Commonwealth Games and also won a silver medal in the Beijing Olympics.
20. Linet Masai (Distance runner)
She is a Kenyan distance runner and the winner of the 10,000 m at the IAAF World Championships in athletics held in Germany in 2009.
21. Geraint Thomas (racing cyclist)
Geraint Thomas is a Welsh professional racing cyclist who rides for the UCI Pro Tour team named Team Skt. He is a multiple track cycling world champion and Olympic gold medallist in the team pursuit event. He also won the National Road Race Championship
in 2010.
22. Asbel Kiprop (Runner)
Asbel Kiprop is a Kenyan 1500 m runner. He was awarded a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 1500 m. He also won the gold medal in the 2010 African Championships in the 1500 metres.
23. Asafa Powell (runner)
Asafa Powell is a Jamaican sprinter who specialises mainly in the 100 metres. He held the 100 m world record between June 2005 and May 2008 with mind baffling times of 9.77 and 9.74 seconds. The sprinter has consistently broken the 10 second barrier. He
has competed at the Athens Olympics and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Powell won a gold medal and set a world record in the 4 x 100 metres relay. He is the reigning Commonwealth champion as well, winning two gold’s and one silver medal. He has also won five times
at the IAAF World Athletics Final.
24. Marcos Baghdatis (tennis player)
Marcos Baghdatis is a Cyprian professional tennis player and the runner up at the 2006 Australian Open and a semi-finalist at the 2006 Wimbledon Championships with a career high ranking of 8 in August, 2006.
25. Greg Henderson (Cyclist)
Henderson won the gold medal in the 40 km point’s race at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. He also boasts of two bronze medals at the Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games.  This cyclist from New Zealand received the New Zealand Cyclist of the Year Award in 2001,
2002 and 2003 respectively. He has 17 New Zealand track and road titles along with 8 World Cup track gold medals.
