250CC dirt bike, right weight?

for riding a 250cc dirt bike what would you say the minium weight the rider should be?

  1. You didn't say what 250. There is no minimum weight though. A 250F is generally sprung for a rider under around 180 lbs, and a 250 2 stroke is sprung a little heavier same as a 450F. As long as the rider can touch the ground and handle the power weight is not an issue.


  2. I think it really comes more down to ability than weight as my youngest is about 46 kilos which is really light and he races one.  Obviously if you are extremely heavy then I guess that makes it a bit more of a problem and height is a factor as well, but then lots of kids that race 250cc 4 strokes use blocks to start on.  I know my son had to use a block for ages being small.  But ability is the main factor.

  3. There is no weight requirement. It is all skill.

    As long as you can stop( I used to have to have to get off and law my calf on the seat, when I was younger) you should be good.

    And if you can handle it. Handle it would mean not too much crashing.

    but if you want a rought number of what I personally think... 102lbs

    the CRF250R's dry weight is 204lbs, so half of that..
