I had just launched my boat from the ramp. Motor was a bit tenative to start, battery was low. I didn't make it fifty yards and the motor cut off. Now it won't turn over after recharging battery. I just keep turning the key and it acts like it wants to get going, but sounds like its not getting gas. I squeeze the bulb a few times and pull the choke, but nothing happens. It was working fine before the battery died...

  1. You have either no fuel or no spark. These are what you need to check first. If you have no spark you need to check the electrical systems to find witch one has failed. If it is a fuel problem you need to clean and rebuild the carb.Good luck.

  2. "won't turn over" -- usually "turn over" refers to the flywheel spinning.  if the flywheel is spinning, then it's "turning over"

"squeeze the bulb a few times"

the primer bulb has to get and stay firm.  pump it up until it won't take any more.

couple reasons why the bulb don't get hard:  faulty bulb, air leak at the fittings, carb float valve leaking.

if the float valve leaks, it'll flood the engine.

first check for spark.  pull a plug, reattach it to the boot, hold it against the engine block, look for a spark while somebody turns the engine over with the key.  use an insulated tool to avoid getting shocked.

have spark and fuel pressure, rebuild carb.

no spark, reattach emergency lanyard and try again.
