25th All India Dashmesh Hawks Hockey Tournament – Day Two
The 25th All India Dashmesh Hawks Hockey Tournament continued to commence its second day at the Hawks Stadium Bela Road in Rupnagar, India, on April 14.
A total of three matches were played this day which included PSEB Patiala vs RCF Kapurthala, CISF Delhi vs Baba Farid Club Faridkot and EME Jalandhar vs SAI Bhopal, respectively.
In the first match, RCF Kapurthala trounced the Patiala players by 3-2 score lead in the event organised by the Hawks Club Rupnagar.
The opening goal of the match was scored by Patiala’s Raju in the 9th minute, during the first half. This score was soon answered back by the RCF’s when the striker Gurpreet Singh shot a goal in the 13th minute of the match, levelling
the score at 1-1.
A couple of minutes later, the Karpurthala locals continued their attack on receiving a penalty-corner in the 15th minute, but failed to secure a score.
In the 31st minute, a penalty corner award was given to the PSEB, but ended up with no scores on board. Hence, the first half concluded at 1-1.
During the second half, more goals were found on the score-board. The first twenty minutes went hard for both the teams to score. However, RCF scored their lead goal in the 52nd minute that was shot by Paramjit Singh.
Soon after three minutes, her squad-member Gurpreet attempted the penalty-corner shot and scored the third goal for RCF. The score became 3-1 with PSEB team trailing by two goals.
With eight minutes left on the clock, PSEB was awarded a penalty-corner. This was brilliantly taken up by Patiala’s Kulvinder Singh, setting the scores at 2-3.
With the time-out call, the match concluded with a win for the Kapurthala at 3-2 score lead.
The second match of the day was played between Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Delhi and Baba Farid Club Faridkot.
The Farid club gave a dynamic opening to the match by opening a goal in the first minute of the match. This shot had been delivered by their striker Gurjit Singh, inaugurating the scoreboard at 1-0.
After a couple of minutes, the CISF’s Harish Sharma shot an equaliser goal for his team in the 3rd minute of the first half. This attack was instantly countered by Faridkot when a striker, C Lakra, delivered the ball home, snatching back their
former lead at the score at 2-1 by the end of the first half.
In the second half, Faridkot were found at the front foot and levelled back the score at 2-2 in the 39th minute goal that was shot by Parveen Kumar.
Another quick lead score was struck by CISF, when Cyril Ekka slotted a goal in the 48th minute, taking back the one-score lead to 3-2.
The match concluded with no more additions to the score-board, declaring a victory for CISF of Delhi over the Faridkot’s club.
The third match results have not been revealed until now and will hopefully be added along with the result sheet of the next day matches to be played on April 15.
