My bikes chain became really rusted while i was unable to ride it and i had to replace it. I bought a chain, but my sister decided she knew what she was doing. Before i could look at how the chain was supposed to go on the bike she took off the old one. Now, i am unable to get it right and ive been working on it for 4 days. Does anyone know where there might be a diagram on how the chain is supposed to fit...or do i just have to continue working this puzzle......

  1. Hopefully you kept the old chain. All you have to do is lay the new one next to the old one and use a chain breaker to break the new chain at the old ones length. And then use the master link on the new chain to reattach it to itself. It should now fit on your bike like the old one did.

  2. Simple!

Put the new chain on the highest gear. That means, set the chain on the outer(the ring closest to you) on the main cog, and at the back cog, put it on the biggest ring, the outter one.

Once that is done get the chain tool and push the pin all the way in and check it is connected by riding it and changing through all the gears. If it doesn't slip, congratulations, chain replaced. If it does slip, try undoing the pin and check that the chain is on the cog properly, as if you would check  when the chain comes off.

    Good luck!

    Hope i helped!

  3. Just get a picture of the chain and derailleur they are all the same.

Here is how to size the chain, buy using the large sprockets on the front and rear.
