I went to the doc today and got my glucose test done and everything was fine. Checked on the baby with an ultrasound and he was perfect. The doctor weighed me and told me i was 185 lbs now!! (And i am only 5'1.) Thats 9 pounds more than i weighed when i went last time 4 weeks ago. Anyway, I am a bit sad about that. Do you think i will be able to lose this weight after the baby comes? I eat pretty normally and try to balance both eating right with a lot of times giving into cravings. Any advice would be great.

  1. thats fine, as long as your not always gaining that much. i gained 6 pounds in one month, and my doctor said its okay, because the month before i only gained one pound.  maybe your baby just had a growth spert or something.  just keep eating healthy, and try not to eat too much.  congrats on the babyy!!

all together i've gained 8 pounds.

  2. around that time you normally gain more weight. If you don't think it's normal than at least wait til you have the baby and then if you want to diet then do that. But I think it's totally normal

  3. This is normal.  I went to the dr yesterday & I gained 8 lbs. in 3 weeks.  I am 25 weeks & 3 days.  All part of pregnancy.  I have gained a total of 12 lbs. so far.

  4. Your baby is growing so fast right now. Please try not to worry too much. Just eat smart and still have your cravings met. Maybe you could go for a walk in the evenings? Make sure you drink enough water and take your vitamins, they can help head off major cravings for me, they might for you too.

As long as you keep moving after you have the baby and continue to eat sensibly, you will be fine. Good Luck!

  5. I gained 10 pounds at my 25 week check up.  The nurse told me that around 24-28 weeks is when you gain the most weight.

  6. its normal to gain alot of weight in the last few months 9 lbs in 4 weeks is normal and to be acpected i dont think that pregnatecy is a time to worry about weight gain and how you lose it. but i will advise that you breast feed it helps take the weght away faster

  7. You'll be fine. Trust me.

We have the same due date :)

  8. I feel the same way worrying about losing weight. up til  2 weeks ago i had only gained 15 lbs total, then last week i'd gained almost 5! (i'm 41 weeks 2 days) Try and walk more, that helped me keep my weight from going crazy.

  9. I'd say its normal and not hugely excessive, the only problem with sudden weight gain is if its accompanied by a rising blood pressure and/or protein in you urine, I presume the doctor tested both of these and they were fine or he would of told you at the time.  I would try to curb your cravings if they are for high fat unhealthy foods such as chocolate candy icecream, but all of these things come in low fat options so maybe you should just make sure that you choose the low fat/sugar options where its available.

AFter the birth you must remember that weight loss takes time and effort so dont rush yourself or get yourself down if you dont lose it right away, its a difficult time due to be so bloody knackered from the labour and sleepless nights, breast feeding helps you shift some of the baby weight so try that if you can (it doesnt suit everyone though!), I always found that taking the baby out for a hour or so for a walk helped me shift the excess, the fresh air also is very good for the baby!

  10. Relax.  What's there to be sad about?  You're having a baby.

If you work at losing the weight you will.  You will probably be surprised at how much you lose just giving birth.

If your doctor doesn't raise any flags, you are fine.

  11. I have raised shire horses for over 40 years. during these times i have had many mares give birth. these mares usually have hefty weight gains, however due to my food restriction diet after birth, they loose quickly. i suggest you go to a heavy grain diet and full of fiber.
