I'm 27 and haven't had sexual intercourse with my fiancee since February (waiting until marriage). My period is about 5 days late. I'm having PMS symptoms, but no bleeding. Any ideas why this may be? I'm normally pretty normal at 29-30 days. I'm not on birth control.

  1. Stress.  Makes mine late every time.

  2. In general delay could be in following cases:

    1. pregnancy (pregnancy tests will discover);

    2. reaction to stress, illness, emotional situations, medication, inflammation of genital organs, etc. (evaluate your life);

    3. wrong use of hormones (including pills);

    4. dramatic weight change (during short period);

    5. menstrual disorder called oligomenorrhea (duration of the cycle more than 40 days, it could be treated in many cases with birth control pills but better to visit your doctor)

  3. The three reasons for a late period other than pregnancy are stress, sickness or weight loss. maybe one of those apply to you?

  4. If you are planning a wedding, then you are stressing, and your body could be reacting to that stress.  You could miss your period all together if your levels are very high.  Make sure that you see a doctor if you don't get your period, just to be safe.

  5. Either your hormones are a little off or your cycle is changing. Don't worry about it.
