Hiya..I'm 28 weeks pregnant and just started with the good old back pain. This is my first baby and i really don't know what to do to ease the pain. The pain isn't in my lower back were it should be, its more higher up, like around my rib cage area. Its so painful and hurts even when I'm resting. Anyone no what i can do to ease the pain at all? thanku x

  1. I had the same thing and went to a good physiotherapist who placed heat pads on my back it done the trick for me.

  2. I'm 27 weeks and have degenerative disc disease in my lower spine so i know what you're talking about with back pain!  You can take paracetamol, altho if you're anything like me you probably prefer not to.  Instead I use a TENS machine.  They aren't just good for during labour but can be used safely throughout your entire pregnancy.  It got me thru the pain in my first pregnancy and is now proving its worth yet again in my second!  You can get them quite cheaply now, £14.99 at Lloyds chemist but i'd recommend you go see your doctor first just to make them aware of what you're planning on doing.

  3. Unfortunately this will last thruoghout the rest of your pregnancy. You can take a warm bath-not too hot because that could potentially harm the baby. Or even get a prenatal massage.I did this and it helped a lot! And doctors also advise against heating pads for it could cause your body temp to raise a bit too high..

  4. i too am pregnant and im 29 weeks tommorow, i have been getting the back pains too and i feel for you, they hurt.. try using a heat pack on the areas, hopefully it should ease up the pain.. if your man is around, ask him to give you a deep massage there too.. or even try a hot bath.. good luck. hope they help

  5. you could also try a maternity support belt. ask your doctor about it. it helps to take the pressure off of your back. i'm 36 weeks and have had this for since about 24 weeks. My doctor recommended heating pads, the support belt and she gave me a prescription for tylenol with codeine apparently that is safe to take while pregnant however it makes me sick so i dont take it. You can also go to a chiropractor and get an adjustment. Good Luck i hope your pain eases up soon.

  6. I also have bad back pain as well. I soak in a warm bubble bath with a good tub pillow to support my neck and just relax, I find this does some. Good luck and congrats!
