ok...at about 26 weeks i was having braxton hicks and also alot of pressure...so i went into L/D at my hospital...they told me to rest and invest in a maternity belt, and they monitored the baby... that following week i went to the doctors, and he told me that i should be fine, i dont HAVE to rest, but i should take it kinda easy...well, ive been takin it easy. just minor housework, takin care of my one year old, ya kno - things to keep my house running smoothly...my braxton hicks werent that bad...and the pressure was only coming when i was walking around too much...but now, over the weekend, i was having a pretty bad braxton hicks episode, and lots of pressure...then it went away...then monday night i had contractions that woke me up, with back pain, and a cramp in my butt cheek (lol, i kno tmi) then last night i was like - in total insomniac mode, couldnt even think of going to sleep till midnight... just b4 crawling into bed, i was having light contractions with lower back pain...i laid down, and tried to fall asleep thinking they would go away, which they did...but now, this morning, i am having pressure, and occasional light contractions when im walking around...

should i be worried at all? i mean, my first pregnancy i had none of these symptoms...she came a day before her due date, healthy and huge...

i just dont know what to make of all these signs...could all of this be signs of a labor that is soon to come?

i kno i am paranoid...but i would rather be well informed and safe than be sorry...

  1. Whoever says if there not regular contractions they are "not real" contractions must have never given birth to a 26 week, 2 pounder.....from personal experience i would take my butt back to the doctor and tell them what you are feeling and that you are worried. This is not your first rodeo, you have a little one and know what is "going" on...TRUST your body and get some answers. I had preterm labor with all 3 of my babies. I was given meds (turbu.) to stop contractions with the first 2....my 5 year old was born 3 weeks early, my 2 year old was 5 weeks early and then my 18 month old miracle baby was born 14 weeks early. None of the contractions were regular and they would too come and go. I felt like all my "stuff" was going to fall out right there on the ground, like the baby was inches away from being born right there and now. It was terrible, don't take any chances.....take care of yourself and your baby~

  2. this happened to me and it was because I was dehydrated.

You need more water than usual when pregnant.

I would drink extra water right now and see if that helps.  If not, I would schedule another appiontment because it is better to be safe than sorry.

  3. I would get back to your doctor and have them do a pelvic on you just to be sure you are not in preterm labor.  It is still to early to have a baby at that stage in your pregnancy.  They might have to put you on total bed rest.  If your doctor can not get you in or just tells you to take it easy then go to the emergency room and have them take a look.  You are right to be caution.  This doesn't sound like Braxton Hicks to me.  Usually they are painful but not like that.

  4. If they aren't regular, then they aren't anything to worry about. I've had contractions that have woken me up as well and they hurt a lot but aren't really doing anything. Your baby is probably low and thats why you feel a lot of pressure as well as your hips and pelvis are moving into place right now. Best thing to do is call your doctor. They can tell you whether to worry or not.
