2D scan at 15 weeks - accurate?

Is it possible to tell at 15 weeks if a baby is a boy or a girl? My doctor told me that I will have a baby girl. Is it not too early to know the gender at 15 weeks using a 2D scan?

  1. I don't think they would tell you if they didn't know. I'm sure he would have told you that he couldn't tell yet. He is probably  right. Good Luck

  2. Yes, it's possible to tell, but it's also difficult to get a good view when the baby is so small.  If I were you, I'd ask again if you're going to be getting another ultrasound later on, just to be sure.

I was told I'm having a girl at 16w4d.  We got that confirmed by ultrasound 2 more times, the last time being yesterday at almost 37 weeks.

  3. We found out we were having a boy at 15 weeks, and he's still a boy at 22 weeks! lol

    Congrats!!

  4. its not to early you can tell at 15 weeks congrats

  5. yes they can tell at 15 weeks but it's more accurate at 20 so tehres still a small chance they could be wrong

  6. it depends on whether they said it was a girl because they didn't see a p***s or if they said it was a girl because they actually saw girl parts. sometimes during an ultrasound they can't get a really good view of the genitals, but enough to notice that they don't see a p***s or there is very little tissue in that region, but to be definitive they actually have to see the hot dog bun/aka girl parts. i saw girl parts myself and i'm STILL wary about buying too much pink!! lol

you can get a 3d to be sure although it is sometimes pretty costly and you should wait until you are about 27-31 weeks, more or less, to get really good pictures of the baby.

    good luck and congratulations!!!

  7. 15 weeks is not too early to tell.  But I understand being paranoid.  I had several ultrasounds with my daughter and I asked at every single one if she was still a girl.

  8. 15 weeks is early, but some people have been lucky enough to find out that early.  Of course, the sooner the scan, the less accurate.  You will probably have another scan at some point in your pregnancy; that will be more accurate.

  9. Not too early. They say between 15 and 22 weeks they can tell. You can ask them at your next sonogram if they can double check again though if you're uncertain

  10. I found out I was having a boy at 15 weeks.

We got a good "between the legs" shot and it was painfully obvious. To the point where it looked obscene. Lol.

If she said girl, I'd believe it.

But if you have another scan at 20 weeks, I'd wait until then to buy anything pink if you're that concerned.

  11. Not sure...just dont buy anything pink until your for sure.

  12. My wife was told at 16 weeks it was a girl and they were right. The baby was probably positioned perfectly for them to see. But your next ultrasound will be more accurate. My advice, don't buy nothing yet until your 26 week appointment and it is confirmed that is what we did.

  13. Eh... 15 weeks is kinda pushing it.  Most do it around 16-20 weeks.  The further along you have one the more accurate it will be.  We had one at 20, and then had it confirmed at 32 weeks.  We're definitely having a girl! :)  Good luck.

  14. They can s*x a baby as early as 14 weeks. Although they like to do sexing at 20 weeks for the most part to be accurate, at 15 weeks they are still able to tell!
