2nd Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Aerospace Engineering?

I'm about to graduate from college with my Bachelors in Psychology. I am thinking about pursuing a 2nd Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with Aerospace (as it is only a couple more courses to finish the requirements for Aerospace). Would this be a good idea if I want to get into the automotive industry?

  1. It's nice to have both.  For normal automotive area, ME suffices.  but AE can get you in Boeing, Lockheed such defense industry.  I'm doing my postbac in ME.  In my school, AE requires extra 15 units so I don't bother.

  2. The Aerospace classes won't help you much in the automotive industry.  The Mechanical engineering degree should be enough.  Why did you start with Psych instead of engineering?  Just curious, because they are pretty opposite courses of study.

  3. Only if you can figure out a way to mass produce an affordable car made mostly of titanium and carbon fiber, with a very low drag coefficient, and every working class consumer can afford it. ;)

I do recall a LOT of the 50's stylings in cars came from the aviation industry, wings, and fins baby!

I would also look to Lockheed, Boeing, DARPA, and the division of "Skunk Works", as that would be AWESOME!
