Question:

2nd Overall Pick in FF, who should i take?

So I have the 2nd overall pick in our draft, and the dude in front of me is probably going to take either LT or Stephen Jackson. Now in most leagues it would be easy to take either LT or AP w/ the 2nd pick, but our league is different.

QBs get 6 points for passing TDs instead of 4 (and RB/WR get 6pts for TDs) which in my opinion would make Manning or Brady better options at that spot.

Last year the total points scored by top players were:

Brady - 478

Romo - 355

Manning - 331

Big Ben -313

Brees - 303

Anderson - 302

then LT - 297

(AP had 226)

My question is should I consider taking Manning/Brady over LT/AP if QBs score more points than RBs, or are the stud RBs just too hard to pass up?

  1. you should go with the top RB your first pick..for sure.  If you were picking at the end of the first round my thoughts would be different.

  2. I think the risk is too high for you to pick Brady (see the link below for an excellent point-counterpoint from Rotoworld).

Jackson is in a contract year and LT knows his opportunity to reach the Super Bowl is slipping away. Both running backs have great incentive to provide you with solid numbers and, most importantly, a consistent performance all season.

I wouldn't take Adrian Peterson over LT or SJ. He's got amazing skills but was spotty toward the end of the season. If the Vikings had a better quarterback, I'd adjust accordingly.

Brady's Average Draft Position on MockDraftCentral.com is sixth as he's become the third QB in the last 10 years to go this high early on. In 2002, Kurt Warner was a consensus Top 5 pick and in 2005 Peyton Manning was a Top 10 pick.

Unfortunately, fantasy teams get no bonus points this year for last year's stats. Brady may go high on Draft Day, but there's no guarantee that he will come close to last year's record-setting numbers. In fact, history says that he probably won't come close to those numbers in 2008.
