2nd Pan American Youth Championship commences today: Fencing News
The 2nd edition of the 2011 Pan American Youth Fencing Championship is all set to take place at Mexico’s Melia Azul Ixtapa Hotel, located in Zihuatanejo, Guerrero from today, May 27-31. This championship will conduct competition under the age
groups Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 for both male and female youth fencers.
For the Under-10 age division, eight years will be the lower limit for the young fencers. All those fencers are allowed to participate that have their associations enlisted with the Pan American Fencing Confederation (PAFC).
The competition is an endorsement by the International Fencing Federation (FIE) and the Mexican Olympic Committee (MOC). It is being hosted by the Mexican CA Fencing Federation in collaboration with the organizing body, the PAFC.
From the United States (USA), more than forty young American fencers have entered into the championship as participants of all the three age groups.
For the Y-10 group, Hunter Candreva and Lawrence Tan have participated in Men’s epee; Tyler Jacobs ,Jack Woods ,Joseph McKenna ,Marcello Olivares, Lawrence Tan and Jose Cortes in Men’s foil; Jalen Thornley, Kamar Skeete and Christopher Walker in Men’s
sabre and Polly Adler, DeVore, Greta Candreva, Alexandra Park and Lauren Scruggs in Women’s foil.
For Y-12 group of the championship, Thomas Petrosewic, Aidan Antekeier, Hunter Candreva, Wolfe Crouse and Lawrence Tan have taken part in Men’s epee; Nick Itkin, Tyler Jacobs, Jack Woods, Marcello Olivares and Lawrence Tan in Men’s foil; Zachary Johnson,
Jared Quinton, Jalen Thornley and Gerardo Flores in Men’s sabre; Saanchi Kukadia and Farrah Lee-Elabd in women’s epee; Polly Adler, Delphine DeVore, Saanchi Kukadia, Greta Candreva, Alexandra Park and Xiao-Qing Tsai in Women’s foil and Mary Barnett, Veronica
Czyzewski, Katherine Halicki, Sara Cunningham and Eva Hinds in Women’s sabre.
For Y-14 youth fencing group, Adam Frank, Khai Fujita, Thomas Petrosewic and Aidan Antekeier have registered their names for Men’s epee; William Feldman, Zachary Feldman, Mohamed Hassan, Nick Itkin, Nolen Scruggs and Yueh-Ting Tsai for Men’s foil; Zachary
