Question:

2nd Pick, QB's get 6 pnts per TD...what to do???

I have the 2nd pick in a 12 team custom league where QB's get 6 pts per TD.

What is the best strategy to draft? Do I go RB-RB-QB like most public leagues where QB's only get 4 pnts, or do I go QB-RB-RB and pick up Brady with the 2nd pick. If I do buy on picking Brady, I will likely get horrible RB's, but how could I pass up his numbers? The pats have the easiest schedule in the league and Moss and Welker catch everything....

I have been confused on this for weeks and I cant seem to decide. Please help!!!

  1. If your in the first 1st/2nd to pick go RB I would then go for Brady then 1 RB,WR,RB, "D" TE , K, then make up the rest with RB's/WR's then work on your bench.

  2. Normally, you would want to pick up a good RB first. However, with the points Manning, Brady, and Romo put up last year I'm not so sure anymore. A good QB can rack up more points than a RB!! Honestly, I'd pick up Brady if I had the 2nd pick, then snag your RB's.

  3. This is my second year playing in a 2 QB league, and let me tell you that I learned a lot from my mistakes last year.  In my opinion you absolutely have to take a QB with at least 1 of your first 3 picks.  Ideally you want at least 2 top 20 QBs (top 15 would obviously be better), and a decent backup for your bye weeks or to fill in for an injured starter.  In this type of league drafting good QBs are not only just as important as good RBs, but they become just as scarce just as quickly.  In this type of draft you are basically looking to draft the best player on the board at any of the 3 major positions (QB, RB, WR), but without neglecting any one position.

Considering you have the second pick I think your're in a pretty good situation.  I would draft one of the top RBs because there are just so few true featured backs who don't split a lot of carries.  I'd probably pick Westbrook.  I don't think I'd draft Peterson because he has more injury risk, and with my first round pick I like to take as close to a sure thing as I can get.  For a similar reason I'd probably pass on Jackson as well.  The Rams really didn't do enough to improve their o-line, and that makes me worry that Jackson might again deal with injuries this year.  I like Westbrook the best with this pick because McNabb is now 2 years remvoed from his knee surgery, and we all know how much he and Andy Reid like to utilize Westbrook in that offense.  I think Philly will likely have a strong year, and I like Westbrook to put up big numbers.  But I will be the first to admit that passing on AP would be a difficult decision.

With my next pick I'd almost assuredly take the best QB available, unless of course a stud RB or WR falls that far (Moss, Owens, Wayne, L. Johnson, Lynch, McGahee, etc), but in a 12 team league that just won't happen.  At pick 23 there will very likely be potential top 5 QBs on the board (Brees, Palmer, Anderson).  If not then it might be worth it skip a QB for now and get one on the way back in the 3rd round.  If you do select a QB in the 2nd, then in the 3rd round I'd take the best player on the board, whether that be RB, QB, or WR.  After that I'd continue to fill out my starting line-up before I moved on to back-ups.  ESPN has a decent article on 2 QB drafts, I've included the link.  The last piece of advice I can give you is to do your howework.  In a tough system like this you just can't do enough draft prep, and the more you do the better prepared you'll be and the better draft you'll have.  Good luck.

  4. My stategy is to do this...

First Round- Go for RB since they can give your team the most points

Second Round- Go for an elite WR... there is no need to go for a QB now because peyton and brady will be picked by now and then all of the other QB's have about the same value. So try to get an elite WR

Third Round- Go for another great RB. Some that are left by this round are Parker, Grant (maybe) or someone like that.

Fourth Round- QB. Usually you can get a good QB like Garrard or someone like that in the fourth round.

Fifth Round- Take your second WR here someone like Marshall even though he will be suspended the first two games.

Sixth Round- RB/WR/. take the best available RB or WR or  in this round and then in the next round take whatever position you did not take in this round

Seventh Round- RB/WR. Moss maybe or Smith (Detrout RB). Someone like that.

Eighth Round- Usually someone like miller is left in this round so take him now.

Ninth Round- A RB that has potential such as Mendenhall or someone like that who could fill in in a bye week.

10th Round- Brett Favre. Most likely he will still be left by this round. If he is picked in an earlier round then you will have to take another QB earlier then this. But usually Brett Favre is not even picked in the draft.

    11th Round- D/ST.

    12th Round- K

  5. Even with the 6 pts/passing td I would go with Peterson (or Tomlinson if the #1 pick is not LT).  By the time you pick in round 2 the RBs available will be much lower potential than the top RBs, while there will still be good QBs at that spot.  You will probably not be getting Brady, Manning or Romo, but Brees, Anderson, Roethlisburger and the like should still be there.

  6. I go by players normally and just pick the best available. If brady is still around with your second pick you would be crazy not to pick him.

  7. go wit AP or LT and then try to get Peyton Manning if not get a back like Marshawn Lynch
