Question:

2nd baby- is it harder to get pregnant the second time if you had an emergency c-section?

I ended up getting a temperature and infection along with my son's heartbeat slowing down so they did the c-section. After the birth I had the mirena birth control inserted, but it was placed incorrectly because my uterus is now tilted. Could all of these things make it harder for me to get pregnant this time? Or should I still be just as fertile?

  1. I had emergency c-sections with my first two and after my first I had an IUD.  We literally got pregnant with our second child after one try.  We were talking and decided to have a second one, we then tried that night.  My hubby didn't have time off again for about 2 months (we were on opposite schedules at the time) so we didn't try after that one time and boom.. I was preg.

So ya... you could totally be fertile.  As for the tilted uterus, I have always had a tilted uterus on top of both my ovaries being on the right side.  My left flopian tube comes out in the right spot but then goes behind my uterus and up and the left ovary rests next to the right ovary and I am about the most fertile person I know.  We literally just think of getting pregnant and we do.

So, unless the doc tells you different I would certainly think you will be just fine.

  2. no, you will be a high risk pregnancy the next time but you won't be any more or less fertile.

  3. Not really sure, but it did take us a bit longer to get pregnant the second time around than the first.  However...I was also 3 years older and under more stress at work (different position).

It took 6 months with my son, had the c-section.  On his second birthday went off the pill and didn't get pregnant until his third birthday.

    #2 due in 9 weeks!!

The c-section might not be the issue...could be the tilted uterus.  Have you talked to your ob??
