  1. Number two all time is Joe Louis, number three would be sugar ray robinson.

Joe Louis because he fought during one of the best eras of Boxing.  He was 69 and 3, with his 3 losses all coming to hall of famers (Ezzard Charles, Max Schmeling, and Marciano).

Of his 55 KOs 28 were in 3 rounds or less.

He won his first title in 37, and his last one when he KO'd Walcott in 48.

He avenged the first loss of his career by KOíng Schmeling, he also KO'd Max Baer and Jim Braddock.  That would be something akin to taking out Foreman, Holmes and Tyson with Holmes and Tyson fighting in their primes and Foreman defending his title.  He also KO'd Primo Carnera.  Okay, Braddock wasn't nearly as good as Foreman, but he had very heavy hands, had KO'd Baer and was defending his title when when he fought Louis.

The era that he fought in was much less technical and much more brutal than the fights you see today.  And despite fighting from the early 30s til 1951, his opponents are more recognisable than the opponents of today's champions.

  2. Ali was respectfully the 2nd greatest of all time.

Rocky Marciano is the greatest fighter of all time.

  3. second greatest heavyweight would be joe louis he was champion for twelve yrs  that says it all though some of those yrs he was in the us army but joe louis is up there id pick him at number 2  As far as lennox lewis goes its not that i personally hate lennox lewis i just dont think he is as great as they made him out to be people brag how he beat tyson holyfield etc they were past their primes tyson was younger than lewis but had long screwed his boxing career up lennox lewis fought a shell of what mike tyson was in his prime as well as evander holyfield i think lennox lewis was a fair fighter my personal opinion

  4. id pick teofolo stevenson from cuba ... incredible physical specimen and 4 olympic heavyweight gold medals

  5. if you're talking exclusively about the heavyweights, then i put ali first and jack johnson second with louis a very very close third.

if you're talking about pound for pound, the i put ray robinson first, henry armstrong second and probably muhammad ali third.

  6. I would have to agree with Joe Louis. If Joe wasn't done how he was done by the government perhaps he could've been the greatest. He went through a lot and revolutionized boxing. What he did for black people and in movements he is sure #1 in my book. Besides he is the only athlete to be buring at the Arlington National Cemetary.

  7. if your ? is about heavies, joe louis, all day. but if it is 2nd greatest boxer in any weight class ,you may want to  consider sugar ray robinson. definitely a great boxer-puncher, a true technician in the ring!

  8. Joe Louis.  Heavyweight champ for 11 years.  25 title defenses.  Technically sound boxer/puncher.  Had very quick hands and of course, devastating power in both fists.

  9. Perhaps Rocky Marciano, in those days he was always no.1 until computer set-up match with Ali showed Ali winning over him.

  10. All boxers.  Sugar Ray Robinson number 1

Heavyweights I have Joe Louis number 1, Ali 2
