Okay so I had my first interview today, and I think it went pretty well and she asked me to come back tomorrow for a second interview. I know it's with the Assistant Manager or the person right below the store manager. My first interview was basically just talking about my previous jobs and she asked me about my availability and things like that. What I want to know is what kinds of questions will I be asked in this second interview? Thanks!

  1. You will probably be asked more situational questions. For example, tell me about a time you had a difficult customer and how you handled yourself. Basically you are going to be asked questions that define you as an employee working in an industry where customers are your priority. So think along the lines of questions about customer service, teamwork etc...

  2. The 1st interview is the most difficult as the interviewers job is to assess if you are the right person for the job with the right attitude and skills. The 2nd interview is typically with the decision maker, but that is more a formality and a chance for you to meet the decision maker. Like a personality meeting. After all a decision maker is too busy to meet just anybody. That is why the primary interviewer asks the question, makes the determination, and does all the work.

Keep your answers informative and avoid the YES an NO scenario (paint a picture). Elaborate on each of your answers and gear those answers to the direction of how your skills will benefit his/her team.

You made it past the gatekeeper and that is an accomplishment, but from this point on, you are still in business mode and its not about you, its about the company, that wants you, and what you can do for them.

Show them what you bring to the table and you will do fine.
