2nd or 3rd to bust wheelie @ 75 mph

I always go 2nd, but always sitting. For some reason I find it harder to stand up first. I always feel like I'm gonna get thrown off balance backwards when I try that way. Then if it don't pop up, all my weight goes on front wheel and wants to do tank-slappers. Sitting, I can get the bike straight up and hang it. How do YOU do stand up wheelies? And in 2nd or 3rd?

  1. IF YOU HAVE A GIRL BIKE, YOU COULD CLUTCH IT AND BRING IT UP, BUT A BETTER WAY IS TO RE-GEAR IT. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BRING IT UP, PUT A FULL SHOT OF NOS ON IT AND IT WILL COME UP AT ANYTIME, JUST LEAN BACK AND HOLD ON.

  2. I am a sit down wheelie guy...i can bring up my 02 R1 from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, with some effort in 3rd...

best way for me to get it into 3rd is to quickly shift to 3rd after i get it up in 2nd...

im a big guy, no one certainly needs to clutch up 1st, but i do slightly pull the clutch in and 'blip' it to jerk the bike up so i can bring it up going very slow....

my favorite wheelies are from around 50 mph in 2nd, shift to 3rd, and ride it out as long as i can..i know that i am just not quite at the balance point, but when i get going fast enough, the wind helps me with that....

i have a buddy that is stand up wheelie crazy, he can ride his bike like a unicycle down the highway and never put it down...all in one motion, he compresses the front forks, hits the throttle, and then brings his body into standing motion....i am regurgitating what he has told me, cause i tried it, and obviously didnt do it quick enough, and I feel like u, like im going to get tossed off thebike.

this guy can wheelie his bike doing standups in 4th gear over 140mph....one night we were s******g around, he kept bringin it up while we were going faster and faster, and then he brought it up in 4th, we were flying...its was pretty neat...

3am, no one on the highway, yadda yadda...if you dont like this kinda stuff, shouldnt be in thos post.

good luck to you...be careful..my thoughts are to stick to what you know...i can sit down wheelie and do stoppies with the best of them....im not looking for any more excitement!

  3. Just clutch it up. It takes practice... But you gotta have the power to pull the wheel off the ground. If you don't have the power, then it doesn't matter how high you rev it
