Question:

2nd pick, QB's get 6 pts per TD...what to do???

I have the 2nd pick in a 12 team custom league where QB's get 6 pts per TD.

What is the best strategy to draft? Do I go RB-RB-QB like most public leagues where QB's only get 4 pnts, or do I go QB-RB-RB and pick up Brady with the 2nd pick. If I do buy on picking Brady, I will likely get horrible RB's, but how could I pass up his numbers? The pats have the easiest schedule in the league and Moss and Welker catch everything....

I have been confused on this for weeks and I cant seem to decide. Please help!!!

  1. even as impressive as Brady is, i would pick QB with my 2nd pick. i put my money on good RB and choose a decent QB in the second round. Like you said, by the time your pick in 2nd round, most (if not all) decent RB are long gone. however, if you pick RB with your 2nd pick, i think some good QB are left (safe to say Peyton, Brady and Romo are long gone too), hopefully Ben Rotherburger (sp?), phillip river, etc.. stil there.

i had Peyton in 06 (the year colts won their superbowl) but still missed playoff in my league due to not have a good RB + decent WR.

  2. Go with a RB, someone who's a workhorse and doesn't share the carries.  The difference between other QB's and the top tier is minimal, like 4 pts. per game.  But a RB will get you a ton of points.  Don't go into the draft thinking RB-RB-QB, just see what's been taken, and get your QB in the second or third round.

  3. 6 points per TD and Brady working with the same WR corps as last year anyone would be stupid not to pick him first that just about a guaranteed 300 points off Brady minimum if you add in yardage points 2 point completions rushing touchdowns.

  4. You are wrong on all counts unless you have other information that I am not aware of. Stick to picking 2  backs out of your first three picks. Best available player might be the way to go for novices such as you. Better check out the settings for scoring, standard scoring for all td's is 6 points. The Pats have an easy schedule in their conference, but otherwise have one of the toughest, second only to the Giants.
