hi there

my wedding was a small wedding and it only contained the ceremony not a reception me and my husband didnt even get to dance to our song and i am not a party animal but i think that all weddings should have a reception to celebrate the couple. and my wedding was more about what the person who was holding it wanted and didnt represent anything about me and my husband aka the colors scheme the colors the dress the flowers ok so you get my drift so i got a idea into my head that for my 5th wedding anniversary i would do a huge reception that i didnt get to have on my wedding day. it would be about me and my husband and i am not saying have a fancy wedding reception because that is not me or my husband but have like our favorite foods served for example mac and cheese and hot dogs and have dancing so we could have our first dance like we didnt before and have center peices of roses nothing fancy but just roses on every table so yes kinda like a wedding reception but nothing too fancy so my question is do you think this a good idea and what should me and my husband wear i would like to wear a white dress not a wedding dress but more like a simple white sun dress and my hubby could wear a nice black shirt with jeans and a cowboy hat and the rest of people could be in jeans we are not expecting or wanting any gifts we are going to make that very clear and also after the party we are going to go on vacation and renew our vows privately does this sounds like a good idea and is my atire sound like a good idea thanks and god bless

  1. It sounds simply lovely!

What a great way to celebrate yourselves and your years together!

  2. You can do anything you want. It is your party.  You should have made that clear to the other people who did your wedding.

  3. Call it an anniversary party and put no gifts on the invitation. It sounds like it would be a great party.

  4. I think you have everything already figured out!  ;)  I think it sounds great and if you feel this better suits or represents the two of you then go for it! I think it sounds fun and exactly what the two of you need to celebrate the occasion! I also think your closer friends and family would also enjoy this as well!

    Good Luck and Congrats

I think this would be beautiful....

  5. That sounds good! There is nothing wrong with the attire, it'll be comfortable for the both of you. Its all about you during this kind of event.

  6. Instead of having another party for everyone.Give yourselves a getaway. Parties are for the guest not for Party givers. Save your money and spend it on your selves Go somewhere See a place you have never seen before.

  7. Awesome idea, go for it!

  8. Do you have any idea what these words mean?

    Sentence

    Period

    Punctuation

    Syntax

    Grammar

  9. Sure, whatever you want.

I'm not reading one big blob of un-punctuated c**p.

  10. Hi.  You have asked this question before.  It is really hard to read, but here is my answer.

If it makes you happy having an anniversary party, that is perfectly fine.  However,

I don't think that you are going to get that "reception" feel that I think you are searching for, especially with what you are wanting...casual, jeans, cowboy hat?

And, mac & cheese and hot dogs?  Hmmm....

~ Serve something a little better than hot dogs.

~ Have your tables casual with a bud vase and 1 or 2 roses with some greens.

~ Get a casual sundress if you want.  I guess it would be OK if it's white....but I wouldn't get anything from David's Bridal because that would be more of a "wedding" dress. I would go with something that is white AND black.

    ~ Have a small cake....not a wedding cake....but an anniversary cake.

    ~ Have dancing.

  11. You can find a simple white dress anywhere.

Don't call this a reception.  It's an anniversary party, period.  Want a big wedding cake in your favorite colors and flavors?  Go for it.  A dance floor?  Sure!   And music so everyone can dance, and someone to announce that "It's time to clear the floor, folks.  It's John and Marsha's fifth anniversary, so here's their song."

Hey, one of my friends was planning her second wedding and she didn't want a big to-do.  So they invited all their family and friends to come over one Saturday for a pig pickin (kind of like a barbecue for those of you who aren't from the South).  And right before the meal, the cousin who was a preacher got the DJ's microphone and said, "Could everyone come on up and gather around?  We're going to say the blessing in a minute so we can all eat, but before we say grace there are just a couple of things that Sarah wanted to say to everybody."  And then they got married.  Five minutes start to finish, big party, everybody had fun.  No gifts, no pressure.

  12. You may certainly host a party any time you choose to; and the style, decoration and food served are entirely up to you. Practicing hospitality by hosting celebrations for your friends and family is a virtue, and you are to be applauded for this good intention!

Your choice of clothes sounds sweet and fun. I only wish I were invited. I hope you have fun and do it again for your 10th anniversary!

Previous poster is right -- you can find a white dress anywhere. But April Cornell usually has some nice ones in her summer line, so you could have a look here: http://www.aprilcornell.com/Products/Apr...

The pale champagne and pale jade colours are nice too.

  13. Call it an anniversary party and go for it.
