What is the difference between 4ohm and 2ohm? How can you tell if your amp is 2ohm or 4ohm?

  1. Most amps are set to run a 4ohm load.  There should be some sort of spec sheet or rating on the amp itself.  If not, get the model number and search for the specs.

Make sure you don't give your amp a lower resistance load than it is rated for.  Bad things happen, trust me.

  2. ohm is the measure of resistance... the lower the ohms, the lower the resistance, meaning more power for you.  Now as the person above said, if your ohms drop lower than what your amp can handle, then your amp will go into a safe mode, if it has it, to protect itself.
