2stroke question?

since there going to stop selling 2 strokes next year, why cant they put a powerband like a 2 stroke into a 4 stroke. And why cant they make 4 strokes have powerful powerbands like them.

Im only 12 years old lol.! I dont no much, im geting my yz85 soon and im wondering why cant they make 4 strokes like that????.....best answers.

dirt bikes have tiny engines and are only operated for a few hours a week. You are nuts if you think they have any effect on the atmostphere.

250 cubic centimeter engine vs 8 billion cubic kilometres of atmosphere.(look it up yourself)

All engines have a power band, 2 stroke motorcycles, 4 stroke motorcycles and even your lawn mower. They are not going to stop making 2 strokes next year and probably not for many years to come. They do make a 4 stroke comparable to the YZ85, it's called a CRF150R and it kicks butt. Enjoy that YZ man, killer bike!!

Your problem is in understanding how a 2 stroke differs from a 4 stroke. In a 2 stroke, oil and fuel are mixed before combustion. The 2 stroke uses the oil mixed with the fuel to lubricate the engine. A 4 stroke has a separate oil lubrication system. In the 2 stroke, oil in the fuel is partially burned which promotes smog from the partially burned hydrocarbons present in the oil mixed with the fuel. A 4 stroke has better combustion of the fuel which reduces the unburnt hydrocarbons. A 4 stroke produces less unburnt hydrocarbons than a 2 stroke and is less of a pollution problem. The 2 stroke produces more power per stroke than a 4 stroke, but it makes more unburnt hydrocarbons. You be the judge, would you rather have more smog and get more power or less power and help save the environment?

a fourstroke has a much wider powerband than the 2 stroke, thats why they are so much faster on the track.  and ktm and yamaha won't stop selling 2 strokes any time soon

2 stroke will allways kick the **** of a 4 stroke it's just the nature of the beast.

i hope ktm keeps the 2 strokes, i want one bad but the poll for the ktm sx line up of 2009's 2 or 4 stroke makes me scared but oh well, i hate 4 strokes no torque at all

Because there is a lot of  power lost in the extra 2 strokes, in a 4 stroke, where no combustion takes place.
