  1. If he is lethargic, you need to get him in.  What is the worst that can happen???  They send you home with the knowledge that all he has is a cold.  Trust your gut!!!

  2. You don't CALL the ER you get your butt up off of your chair and you TAKE the child to the ER.

  3. Trust your mommy instincts.  If the fever is persistent you need to get it checked out.

  4. Trust your instincts and take your son in to the ER if you feel you need to. Kids do tend to run high fevers at times,, but you know in your heart what you should do.

  5. If he has other symptoms as well, like a wet cough or a runny nose, then you may want to take him in, but just a fever isn't all that drastic, even one up to 102.  My son had a 102 + fever for 24 hours, and his doctor said it was a viral infection, and it's common to get one or two a month for toddlers, and just to ride it out.  If it spikes up to like 104, or he develops other symptoms then take him in, if not try to relax, and take him to his pediatrician tomorrow.

  6. A young child's temp range is different than an adults. A child can have a temp of 104 for example and feel lousy but be safe, an adult cannot. So your sons temp is not that high at this point. if you are giving him Tylenol every 4 hrs and having him rest alot and drink plenty of fluids then that is the best to do. Now if he starts acting more lethargic, confused, refusing to take in any liquids, and his temp goes above 103, then I would definitely say take him into his pediatricians office ASAP. An ED is not necessary unless of course you cannot get into your own Dr. office. My son who is 4 now has gotten mysterious fevers that last only 24 hrs with no other symptoms and I have gotten worried when his temp was high too. But really the best you can do is give him medicine so he can stay comfy, plenty of fluids to keep him hydrated and have him rest as much as possible. Hope this helps!

  7. its better to be safe and take him in ... you never know what could cause it

  8. A fever is only dangerous when it gets really high.  You are still in low-grade-fever territory.  Your son has an infection of some kind, probably viral and his body is fighting it.  I would say if he's breathing fine and the temp is staying under 103, take him to his doctor in the morning.  If the temp spikes (check it regularly) or he has trouble breathing, or he isn't able to sleep because of the headache, take him to the ER.

    That said, trust your instincts.
