I was unscrewing the Harmonic balancer bold and it Brok off in the threads area. Is there a easy way to drill and tap and a Larger bold waiting for me over the counter? A extra washer to space it out some and see if it will hold???

  1. It needs to be extracted without damaging the crankshaft. The threads can then be chased clean and a new original size bolt installed. Trying to Mickey Mouse it could easily cost you a crankshaft at very least. If you are not skilled in bolt extraction you should take it to someone who is, crankshaft is an expensive one to practice on.

  2. I assume you mean the 10mm bolts. Wow what bad luck. Your screwed the crankshaft can't be taken out, and if you try to use a drill-out you will just break it and then the machine shop will charge you even more because the drill out uses a very hard metal. If it had happened to me I would ask a machine shop if I could drive my car up there and take all the parts of just so there guy would take it out because he will know more about what type of metal the bolt is (Grade 8) if it's a honda bolt. Hard one no easy fix if anyone tells you otherwise you'll be seeing your cars crankshaft taken out, and taken to the same machine shop.
