  1. You are who you are. Take pride in both your English and Irish ancestors.

  2. Take Pride in all of your Heritage, it all adds up to who you are as a person, be proud of who you are be happy with who you are and don't let people walk all over you.

  3. Also had an English surname, but it works out that I'm actually 1/128th English. (A many generation back Eng grandfather marries a many generation back grandmother. All subsequent pairings are Irish/Irish)

All the rest is Irish, Majority Rules.

  4. if your mostly Irish and even though you have a English last name then your more Irish than English

you may have Welsh in you hence your username Jon W you spelt Jon the welsh way you may also have Scottish in so do i were all Celts under the skin take more pride in your Irish heritage not your English heritage Americans are ashamed of their English heritages nobody mentions the English part you may have races in you besides Irish and English if you trace Ancestry back far enough Americans can trace their Ancestors back to France Germany England Ireland Scotland Holland Sweden Norway Denmark Northern Ireland Italy and even Wales you may have from Ancestors Scotland Sweden Wales and Germany you never know

  5. Surnames are a very poor way of determining a person's heritage.   We have people all the time asking the origin of their surname as they want to know their roots.  They are frequently told the only way to know their roots is to trace them, don't trace your name.  Your heritage is predominantly Irish if you are 3/4 Irish.

Yes if you are 3/4 Irish, you should celebrate it if you feel like it.  However, if you ever trace your family, as you go back, those fractions just might change.  The number of people you descend from pyramids as you go back.  Get back to your 6xgreat grandparents, barring any duplicates, you are directly descended from 510 individuals.  Of those 510 individuals, you get your Y DNA from only 8 and presumably your surname from only those 8 and your mitochondrial DNA from only 8, but you get your autosomal DNA which is what most of your DNA is from all 510.

  6. Get your name legally changed to an Irish name. s***w the british.

  7. Are you one of those people that run around saying that your Irish, wearing Celtic Crosses, listening to Flogging Molly and Dropkick, claiming to be from Boston or saying that you can drink a lot because you are Irish?  If you were I would give you **** about it too.  If not who cares?

  8. Don't celebrate one over the other, claim both equally.

I have four heritages in my blood, and I am proud to claim each one with respect.

Every culture has a history, good and bad. We need to remember our bloodline, no matter how little or more we have with one culture over the other.

Be glad to have more then one, you just have more reasons to celebrate.

I always liked the Irish culture...

As long as you don't deny your English culture, there's no harm in favoring. Irish are interesting people.

My Mom takes pride in one culture, but she  does not deny her other cultures. And she celebrates all her heritages.

  9. whats it matter lol w.e you want

  10. haha you shouldnt get any **** for being irish! i love irish guys! haha definitley take more pride!

    xo

  11. Ya,you should defineitly take a lot of pride in you're irish heritage.England does'nt truely have a heritage since its a melting pot of many cultures, but ireland is not very mixed, and comes just from one group(celts, and island natives),so thats what makes its heritage so rich. You should be very proud of that heritage. It can be confusing when you have more than one heritage.Which one to be most proud of?Just be part of the one that speaks to you the most, and which ever one is the biggest part of you're heart.

  12. go Irish!!!!!  Im part Irish and proud!

  13. ...That's kind of hard.I'm VERY German.(You know...Light blond hair, light blue eyes...)But I'm also Cherokee Indian. My last name is very German but I like to take pride in my Cherokee heritage. Our situations are flipped but I still take pride in all of my heritage.I'm German, Cherokee Indian, and English, and I take pride in all of them. You should do what you feel is right, even if people give you **** about it. If you want to celebrate your Irish heritage, s***w what ppl say and do it!!It's your decision!!

  14. Be proud of all your roots.  My son is a mix of filipino, scottish and English.  I hope he embraces all of his heritage and not favor one over the other.

  15. I think you should take pride in being human! Homosapien Pride.....Now there's a cool tattoo just waiting to happen!

  16. Just start pronouncing your english name with an irish accent.  How's that for heritage.

  17. you could take pride for both!

  18. flaunt it!! i love Irish people =]
