Question:

3/4 Guitars for Someone with tiny hands?

Without totally compromising sound? I understand that it won't sound like a full-sized guitar, but which brands should I be looking for? My hands are super-petite.

Also, I am a total novice. I don't really want to pay much over $200 if at all possible.

  1. Go to the music store and tell the salesman you want an OM bodied or a PARLOR size guitar and it must have a "FAST NECK"  Test it out, make sure your fingers can stretch across the fingerboard before you buy. I suggest a Yamaha or Jasmine

The JR1 you looked up is OK. I will tell you, you won't have the BEST guitar ever, but it's a fair quality little guitar for the $. I will tell you that I saw a fender 3/4 similar for 99 usd but I would not recommend it. Good Luck.

I have bought guitars from this site too.

This guitar will shred the Yamaha. Taylor  guitars are  HOT

  2. Go to a music shop that sells all kinds and sizes of guitars, and TRY them out for comfort. You make think your hands are small, but guitar playing will make your hands/fingers more supple and yo will be surprised at how far you can reah round the neck of aguitar when starting to play. Ty one out for size. ALSO,

Try this web site for free tuition on Guitar playing, it covers electric and acoustic guitar chords. It is excellent and has everything you want and need to learn for guitar..You can even hear the sounds of the chords on this site too.

    Good luck.

  3. Here try this:

This is a 3/4 size guitar for $99 and it comes with free shipping! I purchase all of my instruments from this site: musiciansfriend.com

They are very reliable and sell quality equipment

  4. ooh, 3/4 sized guitars tend to be really low quality. Your hands would have to be child-sized or smaller to not be able to play an adult guitar. Check youtube, and you'll see a variety of 8-year olds who rip up on guitar. Buy a standard sized guitar, but I would stick to steel-string guitars as the nylon "classical" guitars do have wider necks.

    But...

I would suggest first learning how to play before jumping into purchasing the ultimate guitar. You may not like playing, so spending 60 bucks on a child-size guitar won't be such a waste.

You also never know...you may like a wider neck after you get playing.

oh yea! look for "tenor" guitars. They have very thin necks, as they usually only come with 4 strings. You could probably have the saddle and nut modified to accept 6 strings, however.
