Is it better to have a 3.4-3.6 GPA filled with AP and honors courses or to have a 3.9 GPA filled with only Regular courses when you apply to college?

  1. My advice is to go with the most challenging coursework you can handle in high school.  Colleges do not just look at your GPA, they consider the whole package.  And how well you do on AP tests is a much better predictor of college-level success than SAT or ACT scores.  Good luck.

  2. 3.43 with AP and Honors looks better to colleges, and proves you are up to the challenge. Plus, if you do well in the AP exams you can earn credits for college before you even start.

Some colleges calculate "weighted" GPAs which would take into account AP and Honors courses.

  3. Colleges want to make sure that you challenged yourself in highschool so the the lower GPA with AP and honors courses would look better then the sightly higher GPA with regular courses, hope I helped. : )
