i wanted to know how much i would have to change to drop the new CTS 3.6l motor in my camaro. I can not afford a 350 in my car because im still in high school. With the 3.6l pumping out around 305 rwhp i beilieve it would settle my craving for speed more then my 3.4l ever could.

post your thoughts help and or advice!!!

thanks

  1. Those 2 engines are 100% different.  Since your car didn't come with that engine all the parts would be custom since people aren't going to make a kit to drop a V6 engine in a car like that.

It would be cheaper to find the V8 engine that came in your car.  Although the transmission, drive shaft, engine mounts, and springs would have to be changed.  At least those parts would exist (and you have have a ton of aftermarket parts to choose from too) because your came came with that engine as an option.

The 3.6 makes 305hp at the crank not the wheels.

  2. You would need pretty extensive modification to make this, but if you have the cash it can be done.  Also only the direct injection version from the CTS (also the STS) makes 302 hp, the standard 3.6 makes between 252 and 275 depending on which model you have.  If you had a donor CTS you could swap out the entire drivetrain since none of it will bolt up to anything in your Camaro.
