  1. 3/4x  - 2/3x  = 5 + 1/4                9/12x - 8/12x  =  5 + 1/4      1/12x = 5  + 1/4      mult by 12   so  x=               a+1   +  a-1   =2/5     2a=2/5 div by 2      a= 1/5

  2. Second problem very confusing to understand.....

    1.) 3/4x-5=2/3x+1/4

Assuming this is (3/4x)-5=(2/3x)+1/4 what is meant.

Find the common denominator of both sides

    That becomes [3-5(4x)]/4x = [2(4)+3x]/[4(3x)]

Let's simplify and cross multiply to get

    (3-20x)(12x)= (4x)(8+3x)

Divide both sides by 4x to get

    (3x)(3-20x)=(8+3x)

    Distribute to get: 9x-60x^2=8+3x

Put in the quadratic equation form:

    -60x^2+6x-8=0

    Divide by 2 gives

    -30x^2+3x-4=0

    Use quadratic formula to solve

    Might be imaginary

  3. Yeah, good luck with that.
