Question:

3.5 HP Tecumseh edger engine not starting?

I just bought an edger it had external water damage and it didn't have a spark plug so water could go directly into the engine. I cleaned the cylinder head and there wasn't any siting water but it won't start. I pretty much cleaned the entire engine out, could it be the carb or what do you think?

  1. You need to take the carb off and rebuild(clean all the passages) it

  2. It could be a lot of things;

    Does it have spark when turned? It may be a bad coil/points.

    Does it have compression? It may be stuck rings or valves.

    Is there water or corrosion in the carburetor bowl? It may be clogged.

    These are things we must know before a guess can be given.

    I don't mean to be difficult but like I said, it could be one or many things.

    We can't see it or test it so you have to be our eyes and hands!
