3 AP's hard to balance?

Ok so I'm coming on my senior year and well I'm going to have three Ap's, I'm having AP Physics, AP Statistics, and AP US history....

with that being said I'm very excited for the physics and statistics course because i love math and science, being that i already passed the ap calc ab test with a 5 many people tell me that i should do great in ap physics and that ap stat should be an easier class for me.... but as for ap us... well I'm not as enthusiastic about the course as i was when it began and my teacher isn't the best in getting us prepared... nothing against him but i just dont think ill be able to pass the ap test for us history for several reasons....

Should I take AP US anyways?... How hard would it be to balance these three AP classes? (cause i really want to do well in physics)... And exactly how hard is the AP US test?... in terms of ranking... cause I lose interest in the class rather quickly... Could you say its harder than AP Calc? or easier?.... all answers are greatly appreciated

  1. I just completed a Master's Degree research project on AP courses.  IMO, stick with your strengths-Math & Science.  Drop the AP U.S. History.    You said it yourself: you're not too enthusiastic about it.  I doubt that feeling will change the more you get into the curriculum.  If you feel your teacher isn't getting you ready for the exams, and isn't pushing the class like an AP class should be like, then it is 100% OK to drop it.  You know from first hand experience how difficult and AP course is with he challenge and studying.  I have a feeling you will still have a strong ranking and GPA.  I am confident that the loss of one AP course will still allow you many college choices in your future.  In my research I read about students who went into severe stress & depression over their AP caseload.  It's not worth a mental breakdown at age 17!

    Best of luck to you!

  2. Hi

I'm a senior in High School and I am,too, taking three APs this year : AP English, AP European History, and AP physics.(plan to change this one)

I am planning to change AP physics to AP statistic because I found it immensely hard. I am not really good at advanced mathematics and formulas and I believe that Statistics is better than Physics in that matter. And I hear many say that Statistics is easier than calculus in its own way too.

Maybe it just that I love humanities classes or I dont know what else is the reason. I personally would like AP US history more than Physics. again I hate those formulas and everything so I think it is more of an individual thing.

In response to whether you will be able to handle three APs together, I would say Yes. IF you are good in math and will have no problems with statistics and Physics, I doubt US history will be hard if you DO THE WORK. I dont think three APs are extraordinary. There are people in my school who have as many as five APs. -    :-) scarryyyyy... I know

So its all up to you. Good Luck
