While looking for potty training tips online, I came across a website that promises to have my daughter potty trained in 3 days.. for $24. I hate to spend money on something that may not work.. Has anyone ever tried this? How did it work?

  1. Try the Dr. Phil method. It really works.

  2. There are tons of books, and websites on potty training. I wouldn't pay money for something like that.

Just get a routine and stick to it. It should only take a few days to maybe 2 weeks if you focus on the routine.

  3. My sister did and she loved it.  She recommends it to everyone.

  4. What worked for my children -

pick a day that you can spend outside with few interruptions

    lots to drink

    salty snacks

    just cotton pants, not diapers

the child eats and drinks a lot - every time he/she has to "go" make a big deal if they use the potty.

My children were honestly potty trained in a day or two, they catch on really quickly this way.

  5. About 75% of parents who review one day or three day potty training methods are happy with them, so those are your odds.  To save you a lot of money, let me give you the best two tips in the book.   The methods often involve being ready before starting, a potty training party, motivational phone calls, having the child potty train a doll in the morning and then potty training themselves in the afternoon, making the child go sit on the toilet repeatedly after each accident, etc.

    It all boils down to

    1) don't start until your child is ready

they are ready when they can clearly understand the concept and instructions from you about how to use the toilet and they have demonstrated bladder control by either waking up dry or going for very long stretches during the day dry.

    2) when you potty train get rid of all diapers and never use pull-ups except maybe at night.  Using diapers and pull-ups sends a mixed message.  Training bare-bottomed accellerates training even more.  Praise the child lavishly for all successes.
