‘3’ Irish Open Betting Preview
The 3 Irish open 2010 is about to begin and betting pundits in Ireland have already chosen their favorite picks in the shape of Rory McIlroy, Damien Mc Grane, Bradley Dredge, Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke and Shane Lowry.
The tournament, which is taking place in the Killarney Golf & Fishing Club in Ireland, will commensurate on Thursday and will end on Sunday. The event, which holds a purse of $3.9 million, comes as a gush of fresh air for golf lovers across Ireland after a long time.
Betting pundits on the other hand have finalized their favorites. Bettor.com takes a look at the candidates who are likely to generate the highest bids:
Rory McIlroy
The reason behind Rory McIlroy’s selection at the top of the list is due to his consistency and composed style of play. Recalling the event at St. Andrews, Rory McIlroy managed to keep himself composed despite shooting an 80 in his 2nd round. He not only kept himself cool in front of the media but the way he shot his way to 69-68 in the 3rd  and the final round demonstrated his maturity as a golfer.
Talking to the media, Rory McIlroy said that he was really keen to win this major which is being held at his home ground. This victory will also serve as a morale booster for his compatriots as well. Rory McIlroy is ranked as the 8th golfer in Official World Golf Rankings and has been successful in making the cut in 7 out of 11 events this season. He has won at Quail Hollow and was a part of the top 3 in the British Open as well.
Graeme McDowell
The second betting favorite is Graeme McDowell. The golfer is ranked at the number 10 position in the Official World Golf Rankings. Moreover, McDowell’s reputation has improved after winning the U.S. Open 2010. He is also known for his splendid victory at the Tavistock Cup. At the World Golf Championships-CA Championship, he grabbed the 6th position which proved that he is out to prove his worth. Although he delivered poorly at St. Andrews, Graeme performed really well in rest of the season which is why a lot is being expected from this player.
Bradley Dredge
This golfer from Wales is the third in the list who missed the cut at the BMW International tournament held in Germany in this June. Although he finished with a 74 in the Qatar Masters, he lost his lead in the playoffs. In 2007, he lost a playoff to Padraig Harrington after going into the final round by posting 76 on the scorecard by making a birdie putt.
Despite his hard luck, Bradley Dredge ended his two most spectacular victories with a lead of 8 shots. The problem with Bradley Dredge’s style is that he lacks aggression on the field. Aggression here is referred to scoring more birdies and shooting the flags. Experts suggest that the Welshman does not lack ambition and motivation but needs to work on the right game plan.
Justin Rose
Justin Rose is ranked as the 18th player in the Official World Golf Rankings and has qualified for 12 events out of 16 in this season. He won the Memorial & the AT&T National; however he finished at the 3rd place in the Honda Classic.
Other golfers who can make it big at the 3 Irish Open include Padraig Harrington, although he has not left any mark since 2008 when he won the U.S. PGA major.
Damien McGrane, the man from Co. Meath has consistently performed and has missed only one cut out of 10 tournaments. In 9 majors in the season, Damien finished in the top 20 on seven occasions. His performance was satisfactory in all the majors held in France and Portugal.
