3 Predictions for the Post-Lockout Regular Season -NHL Special
The National Hockey League (NHL) is currently going through its second lockout in less than a decade and it certainly has fans, players and team owners stressed out at the question of how long it actually may last and whether there will be a regular season
at all or not.
One thing is for sure and that is there is no telling how long this lockout may last as it has both stakeholders, the league and NHL Players’ Association in a complex tangle that does not look like it will be coming to an end anytime soon.
If there is any regular season left to play, here are some bold predictions on what the fans can expect to see when it all comes to an end and the puck is finally dropped for some primetime hockey.
Vancouver Canucks win Presidents’ Trophy for Third Time
While it may not be something people are expecting, but the regular season is the time for the Vancouver Canucks to shine and the upcoming season should be no exception. While there was some major signing going on during the offseason, which has certainly
changed the hockey landscape by manifolds, Vancouver is set to continue working like they normally would, while other franchise would be in a test mode to get the rhythm and chemistry between their new and old faces just right.
In that time, the Vancouver Canucks would continue dominating, but it would be hard to tell whether this time or not they can win the Stanley Cup championship, even though it should be their time to dominate, but if they still are unable to bring home the
trophy, than Vancouver Canucks fans should just move on and hope their future generations may see them hoist the cup one day, if ever.
Minnesota Wild move up, Florida Panther move back down
The past regular season was amazing for the Florida Panthers as they barely edged teams like the Washington Senators to get into third place in the Eastern Conference, but next time, that will not be easy as they barely made any significant changes while
the rest have acquired a whole new team altogether.
Minnesota Wild seems to be the team that will probably make the most out of their moves during the offseason as they picked up former New Jersey Devils captain, Zach Parise, and one of the best defenders in the league, Nashville Predators’ Ryan Suter.
Boston Bruins fail to make Playoffs
While Boston Bruins might hate me for saying this, it is a very real possibility that the 2011 Stanley Cup champions might not even make the playoffs next season, if it does get around. Basically, Tim Thomas was the lifeline of the club and seeing how he
just completely burned out during the postseason to force Boston to be knocked out just in the quarterfinals is proof.
