  1. Double negative.  If they DON'T need NO ice cream, that means they need ice cream, which they don't.

The don't cancels out the no, or the no cancels out the don't.

For example, if I say, "You DON'T need A cookie."  Then I am in effect canceling out "need a cookie" by saying you don't need one.  In the same way, If you say, "They need no ice cream." you are saying that they don't need any... so if you say, "They don't need no ice cream." Then you are implying that they do need some, since you just said they don't need none.

    ;o)

  2. It is very weird to have a 'no' behing the 'don't need'. Since you had already mentioned 'don't need', you do not have to mention 'not'. As using 'don't need' already make it a neagtive sentence. It is awkward to mention the 'no' and sounds wrong when you read it aloud. It may also like others understand the sentence as the kids NEED Ice-cream.

  3. it should be after that birthday party, the kids don't need any ice cream.

  4. Actually, there are a few problems with that sentence. It should read:

"After the birthday party, the children didn't need any ice cream."

    1) double negative ("don't" and "no")

    2) The word "after" indicates a past tense, so "didn't" should replace "don't".

    3) While "kids" is acceptable, "children" should be considered for use in its place, since "children" is a proper term. However, it all depends on the context of the rest of the paragraph/article/essay/whatever.

    4) Also, why is "that" used instead of "the"? If the rest of the context requires you to site a specific birthday party, then it is appropriate. However, if only one birthday party is being discussed, "that" isn't appropriate.

  5. the sentence contains a double negative(don't &no) i would write the sentencelike this After the birthday party, the kids didn't need any more ice cream.

  6. Double negitive you need to choose Don't or no

  7. It is incorrect because the Sentance is using a double negative. The words "Dont" and "No" are used together. To fix this problem, You only have to change the words.

Instead of dont, use the word "Didn't". But "After that birthday party, the kids didnt need no ice cream." isnt correct either. so change "No" into "Any".

    So the outcome will be::

"After that birthday party the kids didn't need any ice cream"

  8. It contains a double negative.(Don't & no)

  9. double negative (don't and no)

  10. the sentence is incorrect because there is a double negative. the kids DON'T need NO ice cream.

correctly written the sentence should read: After that birthday party, the kids don't need any ice cream.
